President's Report
Meeting 27th January

Last night was a business meeting – our first meeting for the year at Mercy Rice Village with Club Assembly and a Board meeting.
Thank you to the 10 members/partners – Bob, Paul, Graeme S, Don, Colin & Jacqui, Mick and Graham P & Heather who have volunteered as marshals for the Cadel Evans Road Race. We have intersections on Saturday in Boundary Rd which is early in the women’s race – so our commitment will be relatively short.
Reminder: if you intend to go to some or all of the District Conference please register online ASAP – the organisers are wanting indicative numbers.
Some ideas that were generated in our Committees:-
PR – we need to continue our advertising in the Grovedale Grapevine and seek some exposure in Warralily. We do need to start work on the new brochure ASAP. Photos of activities should be sent to David C for inclusion on Facebook site.
Social – David C is trying to organise a visit to Ron & Carol at Linton and an evening at the Davidson Restaurant.
Youth – we have 2 RYLA applicants and are now seeking RYPEN candidates (15 – 17 yrs)
Community – Rice Village have requested a working bee soon.
Fund Raising – For the Dinner Auction, Paul and Lindsay will aim to send request letters to organisation before June 30th. Please give details of organisations to Paul ASAP.
Rotary Foundation – Gifting Program is up and running – requires publicity. Pam has birthday, Christmas, wedding and bereavement cards for use.
At the Board Meeting, Ray outlined his Bed Race Proposal. It is Ray’s idea for challenging activity involving community members/organisations which would raise the profile of Rotary and funds for a cause. We agreed that it is a grand idea but does require a feasibility study.
Other matters included – the nature of a future project with Pokhara –Fishtail RC, a possible trivia night, Club banners and the need to be mindful/realistic of the amount of volunteer work asked of our members.
No meeting next week ( Feb 3) but 3 exciting weeks to follow.
Have a good weeksmiley
Lesley
