From the President:  22nd July.

Just 16 in attendance again, but a happy rabble – we were all fined for our noise!
Our guest speaker was Kristine Balcombe, President of the Mt Duneed Primary School Council. Kristine told us a little of the history of the school and its current rapid growth due to the development of Armstrong Creek and Warralily. She explained that the school is multilevel and their need for landscaping around and paths to connect the buildings. Villawood and Warralily have provided some funding and expertise for this work but the school council was appealing to community groups for further funds. Through Graham Perkins, the Board had received Kristine’s proposal so we were pleased to present her with a cheque for $1000.
Grovedale-Marshall Probus Club: Advertising for the interest meeting on the 13th August has begun with the distribution of fliers. All fliers left at U3A Cobbin Farm have gone in 2 days!
We do need Rotarian helpers on 13th August  , 9 – 12 at the Grovedale Community Centre. And most likely for the foundation meeting to be held on 10th September – same time and location.
I was on the selection panel for the NYSF in cold Ararat last weekend. 18 students were chosen from  28 applicants . All the students were outstanding and would have benefited from and enjoyed the Forum. But of alarm(?) number of applicants was much less than previous years, very few of the students were from state secondary schools and very few were from Geelong.
Makeups – according to my spreadsheet(!) the BBQ will be a makeup for Paul, Ash and David W. This is my first attempt to have the huge contribution of members acknowledged. Please remember to tell the attendance officer if you do any other makeup.
Thank you to all the Directors who emailed their committee reports to both Colin and me, so that they could be published in last week’s bulletin. Directors could you please prioritise your ideas?
Thank you also to Pam who will be chair next week in the absence of Jan, Greg who has offered to do the bulletin in the absence of Colin and Graham P who will do the bar in place of Mick.
Have a good week.smiley
Lesley
Paul  Has 9 entertainment books left and 6 people have bought digital subscriptions. He also advised that the digital subscription is available on 4 devices. Saddo advised some places did not tick off your deal
so he was suggesting you could go back to that place more than once.
Paul also spoke about the trivia night for March 2016 and possibility of mixing up the format and having at Geelong Cricket at possibly no cost.
Dinner auction letters and flyers coming soon and we need to be proactive and get out and talk to more businesses as we may also get new members out of this.

Bill spoke about 3 working bees and the proposed new Probus Club.
1 Reinstate Sandy Kee's veggie garden (29 AUG)
2 Judy Stevenson date to be decided.
3 Graeme Thompson from East Geelong Rotary purchased working bee at auction and we are looking at 5 Sept to complete.

Bob Aldi BBQ 18 Jul raised $419.10 plus donations $41.75. next BBQ Sat 15 August get your name to Bob now!

Lesley spoke about the National Science program, $60(non refundable) had to be paid at time of application and she felt this was a barrier for some kids to attend. This year there was 28 attendees and last year there was 55, so we need to get out and promote this among the schools.

Kris Balcombe- She is the President of the Mt Duneed Primary School Council. She spoke about the increased student enrollment and how the schools facilities could not cope with this increased demand and as president she was seeking funds of approximately $14000 from us and other organizations to assist in these school works. Lesley presented Kris with a donation of $1000 from our club and Kris was very appreciative.
