President's Report
Meeting 22 June 2016.

My final weekly report as President! I would like to thank all members of the Club for their contribution this year. Despite the intermittent attendance of many of our members who are now enjoying the opportunity to travel, there is always someone to step into the breach and we continue to ‘be a gift to the world’.
At our Board meeting we approved further donations to Rotary Foundation, Rotarians Against Malaria(RAM), Interplast, ROMAC, Geelong Mums and Artgusto, bringing the amount distributed this year to very worthy causes to approximately $34000.
Thank you to members and friends – Greg, Ken, Bob, Bill, Ineke, Ray, Ash, Peter, Joe, David C, Devi, Chris Fagan and Brenton Trengrove who helped out at the Aldi BBQ, 18th June. Bob reported that we made $332.10 with a further $32.45 in donations to Polio Plus.
We have a Bunnings BBQ on Tuesday 5th July. There are still a number of vacancies on the roster. Please contact Bob if you can help at any time that day.
Important reminder: Please apologise if you are unable to attend Rotary. It is very difficult for the kitchen if they prepare for 23 but only 16 turn up. Make sure that you report your absence to the attendance officer or ring Rice Village
Reports:
David C: Trish is doing well. Thank you all for you continued interest and support.
Ken: Bella Cooke has just returned from the Euro tour and is having a ball. She moves to a new host family shortly. Her German is quite good now.
Ray: Was reading “The Little Black Book of Scams” when rung by a person telling him he had a fault with his computer!
If you didn’t receive the booklet, I still have more to distribute – it is an interesting publication.
Carlie: Icefight Information Evening. Guest speaker was interesting and informative. He suggested that the media is beating up the Ice problem. But there is a need for ordinary people to be informed about drug addiction and how to respond to addicts should they encounter the situation.
Next week – Changeover.  I look forward to seeing you at this very special evening.
Have a good week,
smileyLesley.
Bella Cooke 2016 Rotary Exchange Student Update Karlsruhe Germany
Bella has just returned from Euro tour which included visits to Hamburg, Berlin, Prague, Amsterdam and Paris.
This was with a group of 30 exchange students from over 11 different countries.
In Hamburg she caught up with fellow exchange student Ben Bayliss.
In Paris, under the Eiffel Tower she also bumped into a group of exchange students from Australia.
Amongst this group were 2 girls Toni and Erica who are from our district 9780.
Bella is enjoying school and is doing well with the language.
It is now time in Germany for many of the exchange students from the other countries to return home so Bella is saying goodbye to many of her friends.
She will be attending an orientation in September for all of the new incoming students.
Her favourite food is currywurst und pommes, which is fried pork sausage topped with curry and served with fries!
Most of the fruit she eats is imported from Chile, Columbia and other South American countries.
July 16 will be the 6 month mark for Bella’s exchange year.
