ROTARY 2016 BULLETIN 14 26th OCTOBER
Last week we had the AGM, a formality required by the Government at which we are required to nominate our office bearers for the 2017/18 year among other things. This is obviously another cunning little bureaucratic trick to create the impression of gainful employment somewhere.
After the AGM we held a board meeting where the following decisions were made. These decisions are not all that was discussed but these will have an immediate personal financial effect for each member.
1 Because the $9,710.00 balance in the Club Account (member’s money) is too high it was decided to make the following changes;
(i) Reduce the margin on wine sales. Providing $10.00 and $15.00 ranges
(ii) Subsidise the Christmas Party and possibly other events until the account balance is reduced to a more practical level.
MEMBERS WILL NOW PAY $40.00 PER HEAD FOR THE XMAS PARTY. The shortfall will be paid by the Club.
2 Each week we collect $5.00 in addition to the cost of our meals this comprises $2.00 for Foundation and $3.00 for the club account. ALL money collected for Foundation up to December 31st must go to Foundation.
In January we will continue to collect $5.00 and members will be able to decide where they would like their money to go. Personally I will continue to give two or more dollars to Foundation, maybe use some toward the Xmas party, an event like The Piano Bar, the Auction or just leave it in the Club Account but YOU will be able to choose what you wish to do.
Because of the late finish to the Board meeting I decided to phone the Board members for a decision about supporting Highton with their very attractive Garden Show. The Club will buy about $400.00 worth of tickets which our club will sell on Highton’s behalf, if we do not sell the tickets we will absorb the difference. I supported Geelong East at their auction and we must also support Highton and Torquay.
Christine has some exciting news on the membership front, she will explain.
DON’T FORGET there is a casual meeting this week, choice of 2 cold meats & salad buffet, $15.00 per head. If you are not coming you must still ring Rice village to apologise.
