Gradually our attendance is improving with the return of our travellers, which is great. Colin did head off for a 5 week holiday which I overlooked last week – so we wish you a safe and enjoyable trip Colin.
With 22 members present, the Aldi BBQ roster for the 17th Oct was filled rapidly and all appreciated our guest speakers this week- April and Dawn, who gave us an update on the House of Angels Orphanage in Sth Africa. In the past 4 years, with funds raised by April and Dawn and the efforts of local people , the House of Angels now provides a home and school for about 30 children. We congratulated them on their vision and determination to improve the life of African children.
I have received more specific details of the District Friendship Exchange to India district 2981. Fly to Chennai airport on 23rd Jan 2016 with a program running from 24th Jan to 6th Feb 2016. Please contact gail@portlandseaview.com.au if interested.
We do need a social director (or directors) – if interested please let me know.
As mentioned a couple of weeks ago, November 11th will be a special meeting – Club Visioning, facilitated by Cathy Roth and Jane Cox. It will be a 4 hour meeting commencing at 5.30pm. Please make every effort to attend. In lieu of this extended meeting we will not meet on Wednesday 25th November. We do however have a Bunnings BBQ on Friday 27th November.
I have forwarded to everyone a request from Pres Ian Campbell (Highton RC) to assist with an ICE Taskforce public awareness campaign. It would be great if Grovedale was represented in this community service initiative.
Dinner Auction next week! A big thank you to all who have been collecting donations and who are able to bring along friends. And of course thank you to Paul Rhonda and the team for all the work they are doing in preparation for this big event.
Both girls gave us an informative update on the House of Angels orphanage in South Africa and where and how they have been spending the funds. They were both grateful to all funds the club had donated and showed us many pictures of what has been achieved with funds the club had donated.
Paul D. Paul reminded us all about dinner auction on Friday 9th of October 6.30pm start at Capri Receptions. Tickets $70 each all inclusive. Last chance to get final table numbers and donations/sponsorship into Paul who will chair meeting this week.

Peter C. Made an apology club for his 30 % attendance, but he pointed out this was due to many family commitments.
