President Bill Trengrove Report
ROTARY 2016            BULLETIN 5                      10th August

Greetings everyone and a very warm welcome to our new member Gary Clark, welcome aboard.
CHRISTMAS PARTY, Wednesday December 14th.  On the Geelong Library top floor deck and room with great views of the bay and city. We have to get 50 people and cost is $65.00 per head drinks included.
BARWON VALLEY school (possibly our greatest achievement yet) will be organising working bees for improvements and through Rotarian Don Shields they are asking all the clubs in the area for help. This is an extremely worthwhile and often neglected cause where you can, with a little work, make an enormous difference to the lives of these children. Keep it in mind and let’s give them our support.
Geelong West Rotary and Barwon Health will be asking the Clubs for support of $3000.00 p.a. for the next 2 years to increase & fund the patient transfer fleet, a very good avenue to help local people and promote Rotary.
Would you like to talk to and assist others to explain to teenagers about to get their licences just how serious and life changing this can be. The program covers most aspects of drivers’ responsibilities. Queenscliff Rotary is running the program & would like help. Interested? Contact me.
Geelong East is running an Auction night at Buckleys August 20th at 6.30 for 7. $45.00 per ticket plus drinks. They will attend our Auction if we attend theirs. Should be a good night, please consider.
See you on the 17th Bill.
Guests
Thank you to our guests for the night, Gary Clark prospective member and Liz Fagan incoming Rotaract DG.
YOUTH / VOCATION REPORT AUGUST 2016
YOUTH / VOCATION REPORT AUGUST 2016
  1. MOCK JOB INTERVIEWS   Members from both Grovedale and Torquay have volunteered to assist with the interviews at Grovedale College on Tuesday 23rd August and Tuesday 30th August. With over 130 students to be interviewed, the task is fast becoming too great  for us to handle on our own. The help from Torquay is very much appreciated.

  1. YOUNG ENDEAVOUR SCHEME   It was decided that the Committee would prefer to assist indigenous students rather than encourage participants to experience life sailing around the world. Maybe we could assist indigenous students associated with other Rotary Clubs or even contact Narana to see whether they knew of students or local schemes which could receive our assistance.

  1. INTERNATIONAL YOUTH NIGHT   Those present at the night held last year for students from overseas who were here and those going on exchange agreed that it was very worthwhile. Hence planning will commence for another evening, to be held in November. Invitations will be circulated to other Geelong Clubs with inbounds as well as previous exchanges.

  1. SPONSORSHIP   The Club has agreed to sponsor Liz Fagan to attend the Australian Rotoract Conference in Brisbane in October 2016. The cost will be $550, covering registration, airfares and accommodation.
