Update from President Paul. Lutheran College Armstrong Campus Visit on Wednesday night, Firstly, we heard some info on the school from Jill Lange-Mohr, Principle of Armstrong & Newtown campus’. We found out that Lutheran Armstrong have a shared identity with Lutheran Newtown- St Johns. Jill advised us that Les lets them all know what our Rotary club is up to, they also appreciate our help with their awards night, BBQ on election day, donation to help with their Vanuatu project and value our partnership in helping the community. They are very happy participating in our Rotary Exchange Program and having Eric as a student at the school for his exchange year. The school started on the 2nd of Feb 2009, with 57 students with 3 fulltime and 2 part time teachers, now they 597 students and 60 teachers. They have built a purpose-built school, even future built - with sections they will move into over the next few years. We enjoyed a very nice meal followed by a tour of the school conducted by the campus Principle Barry Krueger. The new buildings of the school were very colourful and are architecturally designed. There is a gym with a stage, science wing, woodwork, food technology rooms, a Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation garden which the students grow and use in food tech classes. Great night. Thanks to everyone involved in organising this. Geelong Beer Festival Thank you to all those volunteers that helped last Saturday at the Great Australian Beer Festival, it was a very good day and kept us very busy. Jordy will be sending you whoozin invites via email. It is important to know that you have to reply to whoozin to be included in the catering numbers for the meeting or event being advertised. You are not automatically counted in - you have to reply. Please respond to whoozin invites as quickly as possible and no later than the Tuesday before the event. If you do not have access to email - please respond to Rice Village in the usual way. If you have any questions about whoozin please discuss with Jordy or Cookie. If you are unable to access 'whoozin' please remember to inform RICE VILLAGE by Tuesday prior to the meeting if not attending to stop food waste and the unnecessary effort our volunteers.
