Congratulations and a big thank you to John, Ken, Greg and his family for organising the very successful youth evening held last night. It was great to have Outbound exchange students Bella, Hannah and Sydney, and inbound Kei and Luca in attendance. They were accompanied by parents, YE counsellors and we also had YE committee members present. Eliza (our Outbound last year) was able to come towards the end. It was pleasing to welcome many partners also. After our Aussie meal of roast lamb and pavlova, we adjourned to hear the thoughts and aspirations of the outbound students, the experiences of the inbound students and reflections on her year in Denmark from Eliza. The RE students were presented with bags of Aussi lollies (kindly organised by the Cooke family) and then we all enjoyed tea/coffee with lamingtons, Tim Tams, Anzacs, Jam Drops and/or vanilla slice. Thanks to the donors of these goodies.
Phil Quick – YE Committee Chair thanked us for providing the Youth night and urged all present to promote Youth Exchange as there has been a decline in applicants of late.
ADG Ross Taylor also attended our meeting and reported upon the District Board Meeting. He also presented a certificate to Pam and me recognizing the Club's substantial contribution to End Polio Now in 2014-15.
Jan Gillett is seeking numbers for the Christmas dinner at the Boathouse on the 9th December. Please respond to her ASAP.
At the brief Board meeting which followed the celebrations, a donation of $1000 was approved for Pedal for Prostrate. It was with regret that we also accepted the resignation of Barb Searle.
A big thank you to David W, Bill, Don and Graeme S who helped at the working bee for Judy Stevenson. The job is not quite finished and will be completed on Monday morning (23rd Nov).
It was great to speak to Joe who is much improved but still in hospital, so we continue to wish him well.
