FUNDRAISING REPORT

The fundraising committee decided to work with the same fundraising activities as last year, we will be always open to discussing new ideas & opportunities if they come along, the fundraising activities we will run with are,
The annual Dinner Auction,
Aldi & Bunnings BBQ’s,
Trivia Night,
Entertainment Books,
Bike ride marshalling.
If any members have ideas for future fundraisers please let the fundraising committee know.

INTERNATIONAL SERVICE AND ROTARY FOUNDATION
Rotary Foundation Gifting Program: Pam has been to printers to discuss elements of Gifting Program, namely advertising leaflets and cards to be sent out to donors as acknowledgment of the gift.
A quote has been obtained – 1000 leaflets for approximately $500, and acknowledgment cards at approximately $1each. Cards to cover three occasions were being considered (Christmas, Bereavements & other occasions such as Weddings, Birthdays etc). Pam showed some of her own suggested examples.
Electronic payments need to be organised for the Gifting Program – to be done through the board.
Pam to further discuss with the printer so that advertising leaflets & cards are ready for distribution about 2 months prior to Christmas. Avenues of advertising include putting on Facebook, connecting with Rotoract members through Elizabeth Fagan & contacting other District Rotary clubs. President Lesley is requesting it be put on the agenda for the August President’s meeting.
Our Club has applied for a District PR Rotary grant to assist with setting up costs, but no response as yet.

INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE MEETING REPORT 15/7/15
Our first priority is to make sure that our Water Project in Nepal stays on track and is completed in the required time. We have been advised to apply for an extension of time due to unforeseen delays that may occur due to the issues related to the recent earthquake in Nepal.
We considered a variety of worthy projects that we could support, but will be doing further research into some of these and consider the budget soon to be allocated to all areas of service.
The possible areas that we may support are:
A micro-loan program run by the Rotary club of Pokhara Fishtail.
Another project proposed by Binod for assistance in Nepal.
Hearts to Harmony Foundation in Siem Reap Cambodia, run by two girls from Geelong.
Interplast
Shelterbox
Aquabox
Quick response to an overseas disaster that may occur.

CLUB ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE
BOARD REPORT 15-7-15
The following matters were discussed at the Membership Committee meeting held on 15/7/15:
Liaise with Grovedale Secondary College and Geelong Lutheran College with a view to our club writing information articles for distribution to the school community via newsletters
Invite two or three major donors to attend the annual dinner auction. Approach long term supporters of the auction re interest in joining the club.
Each club member be asked to invite at least one prospective guest to a dinner meeting once per year
Establish a Corporate Membership with a significant employer in the area, eg Deakin, Barwon Health
Incorporate an application form with a reply paid envelope in future pamphlet drops
Continue our regular column in the Grovedale Grapevine, and ascertain the rates for placing advertisements in the newsletter.

How can we build good will in our community?
We need to connect with our community frequently.
How will they get to know us?
How will they get to know what we do?
What do we do that others will find interesting?
What “carrot” will lure people to want to know more?
Who is our target audience? What are they interested in?
“Are you the sort of person who has something to contribute to our community?
The first page should “suck them in” – Yes, that sounds like me!
They then look at the second page to see how.

YOUTH/VOCATION REPORT July 2015
The Committee agreed that the Club should again provide awards to students at both Grovedale College and the Geelong Lutheran College as has been the practice in previous years.
Support would be given to any students indicating an interest in attending either of the Rotary projects run by the District – RYLA and RYPEN. If possible 2 students would be sponsored to attend each activity.
If an applicant was considered suitable, support would be given to that student to attend the National Youth Science Forum in Canberra next January.
Colin Berris has been involved with the Science in Schools activities at Deakin University over the last few years. It is hoped that other Club members might also see fit to offer their support to the program.
International Youth Night. It has been suggested that it would be good to organize a function combining those students visiting Geelong from overseas and those travelling overseas next year as Rotary Exchange students. This to be held before their departure – October / November?
Vocational Visits and Guest Speakers. If possible these should be co-ordinated by the program organiser – from the list compiled by President Lesley?
